Quarterback drills — by age group
Throwing-mechanics, footwork, drop-back, pre-snap recognition, and play-action drills for quarterbacks from 8U through varsity.
Quarterback drilling is layered. Mechanics first, footwork second, drops third, progressions fourth. Athletes who skip the order — usually because they want to throw deep balls before they can throw a clean five-yard out — develop bad habits that cost them years to undo.
How to use this library
Find your age group below. Throwing-mechanics drills are the foundation at every level — the quarterback who has clean mechanics throws better in pressure situations than the quarterback with the strongest arm and worst form. Drop-back work comes next. Pre-snap recognition and play-action work come last because they layer on top of the physical fundamentals.
Each drill page covers the demo, the developmental notes for the age, the coaching points, and the most common mistakes. Throwing-mechanics work is best done with a coach who can spot small breakdowns; without external feedback, the athlete reinforces whatever they are already doing.
