Quarterback film study — coverage and concepts
Film study guides for quarterbacks covering Cover 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, man-free, RPO concepts, vertical concepts, and the West Coast quick game.
Film study is a meaningful share of the quarterback’s job. By varsity, athletes who don’t study film are not starting quarterbacks regardless of their physical ability. The library here is organized to make that study tractable — coverages first, fronts second, concepts third.
How to use this library
Start with coverage recognition — Cover 1, Cover 2, Cover 3, Cover 4, Cover 6, man-free. Until you can identify the coverage at the snap, post-snap concepts are guesswork. Then move to front recognition: 4-3 vs 3-4, even vs odd, blitz tells. Then progress to offensive concepts — quick game, vertical concepts, RPO menu, play-action.
Each guide includes the visual triggers, the common disguises that defenses use to hide the coverage, and the post-snap rotation tells. Watch your own film with these triggers in mind, and you will see your reads improve within three or four games.
